Course: BIB 106 Parables of Jesus
Instructor: Dr. James Faulk
Class Meeting: January 7-12, 2019; Monday –Friday 6:30-9:15 pm and Saturday 9-12 Noon.
Course Description: Jesus’ parables made his listeners uncomfortable, and they can press in on us too. Parables confront us with truth and force us to make a decision. While it is hard to miss the point of some of Jesus’ parables, many are difficult to interpret and have been misinterpreted throughout church history. This class will provide an in-depth study of Jesus’ parables, their characteristics and the principles of interpreting them. Jesus told parables to transform the people of his day, but they were recorded in the Gospels so that with the illumination of the Holy Spirit we might be transformed by their spiritual truth today.
